
Wiltshire Federation of Young Farmers enjoyed blue skies and a large turn out for their Pre Rally competitions days – Malmesbury YFC won the Efficiency with Safety & Linear Assessment; Melksham won the Junior Beef Stockjudging & Female Bricklaying; Devizes won the Intermediate Dairy Stockjudging; Calne won the Junior Sheep Judging; Purton & Cricklade won the Junior Dairy stock judging; and Chippenham won the Junior Horsejudging and Intermediate Beef stock judging.
Young Farmers from Calne, Chippenham, Devizes, Melksham, Malmesbury, Purton & Cricklade and Warminster came together for a fun filled competitions finals day on Sunday 26th April at Manor Farm, Wadswick, Corsham. Â 5 of the 7 clubs started the day with less than 400 points difference, but after 51 competitions and only 4 left to score, 3 clubs were within 21 points of each other. Â After the well fought rounds of the Ring events it was Melksham, by the skin of their teeth, who managed to win the Spillers Sheild, for the 2nd time ever in their history and stopping Malmesbury from their 7th consecutive win, by a mere 15 points!
All Clubs achieved many personal goals, with many now going forward to National Finals: Efficiency with safety - Malmesbury; Tug of war -Calne; Fence erecting - Chippenham; Kwik Cricket (17 & under) - Malmesbury & Junior Farm safety – Chippenham Will go to the South West eliminators at Hartpury College on Sat 13th June 2009. Calne will also attend the Bath & West Show for the Young Farmers Tug of War round.

Purton & Cricklade, Malmesbury & Chippenham will represent Wiltshire in the Floral Arts finals at the Three Counties Showground, Malvern, Worcestershire on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th September 2009, along with Calne in the National Cookery. Â
The evening ‘Bop in a Barn’ was attended by 160 members and was a great end to a great day.
